The Regional Center for Blood Donation and Hemotherapy (RCKiK) in Warsaw consists of 10 territorial branches and 5 mobile units, supplying more than 150 liters of blood and blood components daily to over 100 hospitals. Other customers include clinics and institutes performing thousands of complex operations, transplants, transfusions, and procedures requiring blood or its components.
As a medical institution, RCKiK processes a large volume of sensitive donor health data. While this data was previously handled via paper records, digitization has introduced new risks, including cyberattacks and accidental or intentional data leaks. These changes created new security challenges for the organization.
The security of donor and patient data is a priority for us. That's why we decided to introduce another technological solution that ensures comprehensive protection, regulatory compliance, and increased effectiveness of our IT systems.

Medical identity theft occurs when someone uses another person's health-related identifying information without consent. This can include personal data, address, registration number, and medical records. Unauthorized use may result in fraudulent drug purchases, access to medical services, or false insurance claims. Donor data can also be misused for identity fraud.
With more than 300 employees, it's difficult to monitor whether each person follows procedures correctly. Safetica helps us track how data is handled and also educates employees by informing them when certain file actions may pose a risk, helping prevent accidental data leaks.

Safetica’s configured rules detect when sensitive data may be transmitted incorrectly and notify employees with warnings. Authorized users can proceed if justified, while all actions remain monitored. This continuous visibility helps protect sensitive data and reinforces proper data handling practices across the organization.
Before implementing Safetica, we received a trial version along with training on the management console. The implementation was quick and smooth, and the technical support from certified engineers has been excellent.
